Professor Morten Bennedsen on the Eighth Module of ANSO BIDI School 2024 Spring

On June 14, 2024, at 19:30 (UTC+8), the eighth module of the eighth semester of the ANSO BIDI School (Belt and Road International Innovation and Development Institute Network) was successfully held online. Over sixty participants from Belt and Road Initiative countries attended the session.

The course featured a lecture by Professor Morten Bennedsen, the Niels Bohr Professor at the University of Copenhagen, Chair Professor of Family Enterprise at INSEAD, and Academic Director of the INSEAD Wendel International Centre for Family Enterprise. Professor Bennedsen holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University, a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Copenhagen. His teaching areas include family business governance, corporate governance, applied microeconomics, and the theory of the firm.

Morten Bennedsen’s primary research focuses on the governance of family firms and other closely held companies in a global context. His work has been published in leading financial journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Political Economy, and Quarterly Journal of Economics. He is the author of the book “The Family Business Map: Assets and Roadblocks in Long Term Planning.” Professor Bennedsen has received numerous research and teaching awards and has served as an advisor to the Danish Ministry of Business, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, private equity funds, and the World Bank. He also consults and works with many families in Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world.

The lecture primarily discussed recent advances in family business research and the new challenges they face. After the session, participants engaged with Professor Bennedsen in a discussion on related topics and expressed their gratitude for his insightful presentation.
