Professor Suzanne de Treville delivered a lecture on the seventh module of eighth semester for ANSO BIDI School

On June 5, 2024, at 19:30 PM( UTC+8) , the seventh module of the eighth semester of the ANSO BIDI School (Belt and Road International Innovation and Development Institute Network) was successfully held online. The course featured a lecture by Professor Suzanne de Treville, Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Operations Management (utd24), and Professor of Operations Management at the Swiss Finance Institute.

Suzanne de Treville is a professor at the Swiss Finance Institute at the University of Lausanne. She holds a PhD from Harvard Business School and both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on quantifying supply chain costs and operations strategy management. She has published extensively in journals such as the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Harvard Business Review, International Journal of Production Economics, and Interfaces.

In her lecture, Professor de Treville used the apparel industry as an example to demonstrate how financial quantification methods can optimize supply chain responsiveness. She highlighted that the apparel industry is one of the most cost-intensive sectors, and applying these methods can reduce costs and increase profits. Additionally, she presented a specific case study to show how these theories can be applied in practice.

At the end of the session, participants expressed their appreciation for the insightful presentation and looked forward to future lectures.
